A simple tutorial on...

~!Making An Avatar!~
~~~.GIF Format~~~
First Get a couple pictures that you like in your avatar... got a couple? ... OK! Now, click on the link below to download the Microsoft GIF Animator (Asuming that you are using a PC... if not, tell me.)!…
SAVE THIS TO YOUR DESKTOP! Then all you have to do is click on the icon and away you go!
Next make sure that the pictures that you chose are 50x50 pixels and are in GIF format... if you dont know how to do this just lemme know.
Then, open GIF Animator and then open your last picture first, inside the GIF Animator window...
Done that?
Ok, the next step is to open all the rest of your files in reverse order that you want them to appear in...
This will make it less frustrating, so you dont have to move things around and confuse yourself... trust me... I've done it before...
To do this, click on the fourth button from the left at the top of the page, it looks like a page with a yellow plus on it.
Once you add all of your pictures, click the animation tab on the right of the window and check to see if the Animation Width & Height are both 50, """IF NOT""", then one of your pictures is bigger than 50 by 50 pixels and you will have to change that by using an editor of your choice (eg. Photoshop, Paint, etc.).
Then while your are still in the animation tab click "Looping" and "Repeat Forever". This will make your avatar... well... loop forever!
Next, click on the Image Tab.
You will find that all of the options except for "Duration (1/100 s)" are static, meaning you CANNOT change them ( this window...).
Un-Click "Transparency" for now, you can fiddle with that later. ^_^
After you have set the "Duration" of each picture click on the play button on the right side of the window... second button from the right... a rightward pointing triangle.
then tweak the duration if you like if you like, then press "Save" (Single Floppy Disk) or "Save As" (Multiple Floppy Disks) to save your work...
With deviantArt there is a restriction on how large your Avatar can be. The Maximum size it can be is 15 KB.
You can check this after you have saved your file, by right clicking on the file, clicking "Properties" then under the "General" Tab look for "Size:" and it should tell you right beside that! >.<
Hope this helped...I really... SEROUSLY DO!
Help? I can't figure out the "duration" thing. No matter what numbers I set, it just whizzes by in a fraction of a second... I want to make a nice long readable stamp...
if you want 1 second the put 100(? havent used it in a while lol)
then you need to do so with all the frames.
you can also set all of the frames by clicking the select all button at the top.
hope that helps :D (im not on much these days lol)
I only have one thing to add, and that's before you hit play, make sure you 'Select All'. I had no idea what was going on, LoL! Other than that fantastic tutorial and great program, very easy and straight forward. I will be using it to revamp the one I did in GIMP, so thanks!
